Kel-Tec PF-9 pocket pistol

Kel-Tec PF-9 - Anybody shot one of these?

I'm thinking of getting one to take the place of my P-3AT (2nd gen) with which I have been very satisfied, and which I carry daily.

OTOH, the 1st gen P-3AT had some issues. Maybe I should wait a while? I was looking at the Kahr PM9, but the Kel-Tec is much cheaper.

The PF-9 is a semi-automatic, locked breech pistol, chambered for the 9 mm Luger cartridge. It has been developed from our highly successful P-11 and P-3AT pistols with maximum concealability in mind. The PF-9 has a single stack magazine holding 7 rounds. It is the lightest and flattest 9 mm ever made. Firing mechanism is Double-Action Only with an automatic hammer block safety. The PF-9 will be available in blued, parkerized, and hard chrome finishes. Grips will be in black, grey, and olive drab.

The PF-9 accessory rail will accept the latest compact weapon lights and lasers.

The rear sight is a new design and is adjustable for windage with the supplied allen wrench as well as for elevation with the use of shims (not included). The included 7 round rectangular magazine is supplied with a finger extension base plate and numbered holes. Re: Kel-Tec PF-9 pocket pistol

PF9 is definately bigger...

I've got a p3at and I love the compactness... IMO the P3at or the PF9 are backup pistols anyway. 7 rounds of .380 or 8 of 9mm in that tiny of a package really isn't that big of a preformance improvement compared to the size trade off.

FWIW I've also got a P11, which isn't that much bigger than the PF9 and it holds 10 (or 12 with LEO mags)+1 rounds. Now the trade off in size for the Pf9 to the P11 is definately worth it IMO.

You are also going to be paying top dollar (most likely) for a bit until the newness wears off. When it does you'll be able to buy one for teh same price as a p11 or p3at, 230 NIB and out the door.

Thanks for the response.

I have checked out the P-11 but am a bit wary of its internal mechanisms. Apparently it's not "drop safe". I prefer the P-3AT mechanism which was designed into the PF-9, even though it doesn't have "second strike" capability. Also, thinness is a very big selling point for me, because I want maximum concealability.

I just sold a gen I, P3AT. To many problems. Thinking about a gen 2 or a pf-9 or a xd 45 or a kahr p9 or a.......

That P-11 has got that drop/boom problem. They've corrected that with the new pf-9. I might wait for a gen 2 pf-9. Not sure at the moment. How come there are very few pf-9's in the stores?

Of course I use the mag extensions for a better purchase.

Plus it will accept the higher capacity mags that fit the larger models, should a reload be called for. A Glock subcompact and two full size mags should do the trick.

.

I carry a G26 myself and love it!

I have a G26 as well. It was my first CCW pistol. Definitely not a bad gun - very good for IWB or Thunderwear carry.

My G26 stays in my "Bug Out Bag". I have a 30rnd mag for G18 that fits my G26 - of course it sticks out a bit - LOL. What I want is a gun with reasonable power (9mm+) suitable for pocket carry.

Thanks for the replies!

I have a the .380, had it since it first came out. Back up #3 along with the .38 snub and the Kimber Ultra II. But if I were to have a glock it would be this one, http://www.gmorinllc.com/stuff/glock.mpeg
